The National Homowo Festival of North America
(NHFNA) was instituted by GaDangmes of Ghana
living in the United States of America and Canada, with the
express desire to promote, teach and inculcate a sense of
inclusion in the culture and tradition among Gadangme
communities in North America and their future generations.
Homowo is a major post-harvest annual festival celebrated
throughout the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, and by all
GaDangme communities in the diaspora
Mission
The National Homowo
Festival North America (NHFNA) is a non-profit organization
whose mission is to unite all Ghanaian indigenes of GaDangme
descent resident in North America, and to afford deserving
under-privileged children in Ghana the opportunity, the
training and tools needed to compete in today’s global
technological world, while promoting Gadangme culture and
tradition, through civic, social education, recreational
activities, mentoring and community building among GaDangme
people through the celebration of the annual National Homowo
Festival in North America (with emphasis on children), while
exposing the American public to the meaning, uniqueness,
pomp and pageantry of African culture. It is also to develop
and foster mutual understanding and cooperation among the
various GaDangme Associations in North America, as an
enhancement of the general cultural and ethnic fabric of the
United States
